Written

We know that Samuel only likes to scribble worms, halos and stuff.

Samuel calls it 'fire'

We 'know' that he is not keen on learning to write the alphabets yet as he hardly ask us to practice with him nor we asking him to practice writing 'em.
He did however show some tracing interest when playing with to Po Po a few months ago.

So, we were under the impression that he knows his abc but not the writing of it independently
So imagine our hype yesterday when ……

Actually, we are not quite sure how it happened. Mommy was watching the famous Little Nyonya show on TV and Daddy was working in the study room.
Samuel must have been bored playing with his toys when he decided to take out the whiteboard and started to scribble.
Then, he called for us and he showed us, AMUEL on the whiteboard.

He added the S later when Daddy asked him where his S has gone to.

:O
2 new discoveries,

  • Samuel knows how to spell his name without our help
  • Samuel knows how to write his name without our help ..... albeit crooked alphabets.

Hey, it’s not for pretty handwriting contest. We are not complaining.

I Confess

We are not sure if Samuel is getting rowdier now or if we are.
Of late, the scolding are getting a bit more intense, so are the fighting backs. At times, Samuel just like to say ‘no’ to us for the heh of it. Rebellious just because he can and stubborn just because he knows he can get away with it.

His strategy is crocodile tears or to apologize before we really loose our cool.

Samuel was ‘operating’ the fan remote control the other day when he accidentally press the timer button, but of course he did not know (still doesn’t actually) what it was then.
He got a bit freak-out to see the red light switch-on on the fan.

So, he confessed to us.

Samuel: Mommy, don’t scold me ah.
Daddy: What happen Samuel?

Samuel: Samuel on the fan. Then Samuel press this. Then the red color is on

He pointed to the ceiling fan and surrendered the remote control then.

So, how are we suppose to get angry with his confession?

Gizmo

Excuse us for being ignorant parents, but since when the computer becomes a childhood necessity?
Kids everywhere nowadays are working it like a pro.

:O
We almost feel guilty for not introducing the computer to Samuel earlier

As much as we tried to avoid, we just could help not to anymore. He is exposed to it so much that we’re at dead end on how to answer him what is this square box thing. The box that we and practically everybody else so engrossed with.

Samuel has been practicing his computer skills since a few weeks back. He knows how to type the alphabets and change ‘em from small letters to capital letters. He knows how to work the mouse, the touch pad, the shift key, the delete key, arrows and stuff.

Fast becoming his favorite past time now is harvesting crops in the Farmtown, clicking on Youtube music videos (controlled videos of course) and the ultimate typing ABCs on the computer,

So much that he is not keen to learn how to write it. Typing is faster it seems.

:O

All By Myself

Our toilet has been long equipped with this.

And recently, we added these.

Why?

Because Samuel has been telling us these for the past few weeks and we don’t want the slippery floor to spoil it for him.

I go shee-shee by myself.

I wash hand by myself

Mommy, you go outside and watch tv.

Mommy, you don’t wait here, you go sleep on there

He is going in and out the toilet doing his own business day in day out now.
He is doing it all by himself; from taking off his pants, to stand and aim, to flush, to washing his hands complete with the soap and to wearing his pants back.

Wow, our boy has grown up so much.

I Can Bring My Battalion Out Now

Initially Samuel has a lil doubt on the apple motive bag.

Now, he is sporting it everywhere as he can bring his own toys out.
He would have bring the bag to his school too if he could help it.

Yes, he absolutely adores his Apple Messenger Bag. More so when there are other kids and adults alike ask him about his bag.

But when the thrill worn off or when he wants to run about and the bag is getting into his way,
he'll abandon it to us :p

Rocking the Hard Rock

Is the rock very hard?
Is the bone hard?

That was Samuel trying to ascertain if he heard us right. We told him that we were going to Hard Rock Cafe for the dinner.

Mommy’s birthday celebration continued with a dinner sequel at Hard Rock Cafe last week. It's quite impossible to get a table there without prior reservation it seems.

Luckily we booked for a later slot at 8.30pm only as the traffic was quite bad last Friday. It took us 1 hour to reach Hard Rock Hotel. And when we reached there, the parking was full. Wow, really lives up to its name as the current most happening place here eh?

Here’s a brief rundown of our experience there:

The cafe does not provide any high chair. So patrons with toddlers alert, please be prepared to tend to your running kids.
Samuel did not run around that night. He was very occupied at the table
  • with some coloring and maze activities provided by the cafe
  • with the toy animals he brought along
  • with the food
  • with the live music towards the end of the night after a break outside the cafe

We’re not loving the food but Samuel does not seem to mind.

  • Daddy had the chicken fajitas, it was too dry.
  • Mommy had the beef brisket, it was too dry again
  • Samuel, however finished his vegetable cream soup with bread

The ambience is good; typical bar place with loud music and sporting crowd. That being said, it may not be the best hangout place for kids. Dinner is served up until 10.30pm, kids are not allowed after that btw.
We sat at the corner further away from the speaker, so the loud music did not bother us much.

We have mixed review with the services rendered.
The food was served fast, the waitress-ing was friendly and prompt but perhaps a lil too prompt. 2 different gals came up to us twice trying to clear Mommy’s plate while Mommy was still munching away :O
They really try hard to shoo you away to clear the table for next patron in queue eh?
Then Mommy asked the waitress to wipe clean our table after our dinner for our drinks session, the table never got wipe.
Other than that, all were fine.

Value for money wise, again it is mixed review.
Their food ain’t cheap and food portion was big but then again they ain’t to our taste-bud liking. The dinner drinks were expensive, the Vanilla milkshake we ordered cost more than our Cocktail mix :O.
The bar drinks however were reasonable; Mommy tried the Kahlua Coffee and Daddy tried the Mango-Berry-somtehing cocktail. They were good. We did not stay long though, as kids were not allowed during bar hours.

Outside the cafe, the environment again is cozy. We especially like the lounge and the music played by the attending band that night.

That sum up our brief experience there. Perhaps next time we’ll hang around longer when the place is less crowded.

2-in-1 Birthday

We celebrated Mommy’s birthday this year with cake cutting after a nice-cozy home cooked dinner.

Actually, it’s another 2-in-1 birthday cake where Mommy was sharing with Small Jiu Jiu.
But of course for Samuel, when he sang the birthday song, he sang it solely for Mommy :D

Confident
and loud
and clear
and cheeky!

A shot for the album

Don’t 'ya just love the timer?

This is the Raspberry Yogurt Cheese Cake specially bought by Big Yee Yee.

It’s a French cake with mille.
Very filling and very rich.
Our tummies could hardly talk after the feast!

Blanket Worry

Samuel has a very comfy blanket that he has been using since he’s a baby……..

Actually, he used it as a baby,
then took a break when he learnt how to kick it off ,
now he’s back to loving it.

Since a few weeks back, every night and sometimes during afternoon nap, Samuel will ask us to cover his legs with his beloved blanket. He will look for his blanket semi-consciously in his sleep when he accidentally rolls it off. And when he finds it, he will wrap it around his tummy just like his Daddy.

Looks like we can strike off another worry from our list and Mommy can finally retire from waking up in the night to cover Samuel up with blanket.

But we do need to get another bigger blanket for him though.

Sunday Market Again

Looks like we are becoming a somewhat regular at the Little Penang Street Market. We went there again last Sunday and had tons of fun yet again!

We shopped a little; though we tried to avoid overpriced stuff, we still ended up getting 3 pieces of overpriced cupcakes. It was not good btw; too sweet, not creamy and not fluffy.

We feast a little; Samuel finished almost a gigantic piece of cheese cake and he would have taken more if we did not stop him.

And we watched the special Festival-of-Lights performance.
Mommy let Samuel work with Mommy’s camera phone this time.

These shots were taken by Mommy.

This is one of the many that was taken by Samuel.
Most are good shots!

Looks decent after a minor cropping : )

And oh, Samuel did get something for himself too.

An origami jetplane.
Interesting art-work that is folded entirely by hand with no cutting involved.
It is made of scrap magazine paper too, meaning 0 cost is required?
The entire selling price is the profit?

It was sold at RM3 a piece.
Good business eh?
